The most expensive seat in the room is the empty one
The room, the teacher and the materials are paid before the first child arrives. A seat you release costs nothing extra to fill, so whatever it earns is money the class was not going to make. The figures below follow the class of ten from the story: three of your own students, seven seats sold.

Four seats a week left empty across a ten-week term is forty empty seats. At the deepest discount, every one of them, they still return S$560. Parents see early-bird pricing: the emptier the class, the less they pay.
What a parent pays, seat by seat
The discount follows how full the class is once the seat being booked is counted: 60% off while the room is under half full, ten points less at each step, list price for the seat that fills it.

- 60% is the ceiling, for a room under half full. No seat is ever sold for less than 40% of your list price.
- The last seat pays your list price. The discount is gone once the room is full.
- Seats you keep back count as filled. Release five of ten and the deepest discount is 40%, not 60%.
- Every discount is a whole ten. Parents see 60, 50, 40, 30, 20 or 10% off, never 43%.

Questions centres ask
- Why does the deepest discount go to 60%?
- Because the alternative for that seat is S$0. The 60% applies only while a class is under half full, when the seat is least likely to sell at all, and it drops by ten points at each step as the room fills. On a S$50 seat that is S$14 to you instead of nothing, and S$35 once the class is full. The rent and the teacher cost the same either way.
- When am I paid?
- Monthly, on the 15th or the next business day, for bookings completed in the previous calendar month. You get a statement itemising each booking, the commission and the net payout.
- What if a parent cancels or does not turn up?
- No commission is charged and no payout is made on a booking that is refunded. Your cancellation window and refund terms are in the Partner Service Agreement you sign before going live.
- Can I choose a smaller maximum discount?
- No. The 60% ceiling and the 70/30 split are the same for every centre. What you decide is your list price, how many seats you release, and when they open.
- Does this touch my own students?
- No. Only the seats you release to ClassBuddy are priced this way. Your direct students pay whatever you charge them, and seats you keep back count as filled when we set the discount. Term packages and any enrolment a family buys from you directly carry no commission, including families who first came to you through a ClassBuddy spot class. The Partner Service Agreement says so in clause 6.3A.
- Parents pay in credits. What does that mean for me?
- Parents buy credits and spend them on classes; we convert your dollar price to credits at booking time. Your payout is worked out in dollars, as shown on this page.
- Is GST added?
- ClassBuddy is not GST registered, so no GST is charged on the commission. Your own GST position on the class fee is unchanged.
